Celtic Tree of Life Brooch, Irish Tree of Life, Norse Tree of Life
The Tree of Life symbol crosses over all the Celtic Nations and Viking Mythology.
To the Celts, trees were an important part of their beliefs and culture, representing how the forces of nature come together to create harmony and balance.
To the Vikings, Yggdrasil is tree of life. It sits in the middle of Asgard, where the Gods and Goddesses live. It is an eternal green Ash tree with branches stretching out over all of the nine worlds, extending up and above the heavens.
Each item begins as a piece of sheet metal, copper, bronze, brass or nickel. After a pattern is transferred to the metal, the piece is etched in a salt-water solution. Each piece is hand cut, sanded, and polished. A patina may be applied or it may be hand painted with dye oxide. A clear polymer coating is applied and a pin attached to the back with adhesive.
