Clan Chisholm Badge
Clan Chisholm is blessed with ancestral lands that include some of the most beautiful glens in Scotland. Clan members roamed over territory that included Glen Cannich and the stunning Glen Affric.
Clan Chisholm have been present in the Borders as early as the reign of Alexander III. The name comes from from the Norman 'chese', 'to choose' and the Saxon 'holm', meaning 'meadow'. The earliest recorded member of the family is one John de Chesehelme, appearing in records from 1254.
Each item begins as a piece of bronze sheet metal. After a pattern is transferred to the metal, the piece is etched in a salt-water solution. Each piece is hand cut, sanded, and polished. The pin back is soldered on. A patina has been applied giving the metal that aged look. A clear polymer coating is applied to the face of the badge.
