The surname derives from the lands of Primrose in the parish of Dunfermline, Fife. The earliest recorded ancestor of the Earls of Rosebery is Henry Primrose, born sometime prior to 1490, who lived in the neighbourhood of Culross Abbey. Henry's son was Gilbert Primrose (surgeon), (c.1535 -18 April 1616), who became Surgeon to King James VI of Scotland.

The seat of the Chief of Clan Primrose is still at Dalmeny House in West Lothian on the Firth of Forth in Scotland.The current Chief of Clan Primrose is Neil Primrose, 7th Earl of Rosebery

  • Each item begins as a piece of bronze sheet metal.  After a pattern is transferred to the metal, the piece is etched in a salt-water solution.  Each piece is hand cut, sanded, and polished. The pin back is soldered on. A patina has been applied giving the metal that aged look. A clear polymer coating is applied to the face of the badge.
