Clan Agnew is said to originate in Ireland, and share origins with Clan Donald. Ancestor Andrew Agnew of Lochnaw was granted the lands and Lochnaw Castle in 1426. During the Jacobite rising of 1745 the Clan Agnew supported the British Government against Jacobite forces.
